BRIEF HISTORY

The need for having a centre at Kollam arises from three important facts.  Kollam represents the highest percentage of students who clear the Civil Service Examination from Kerala. Hence a centre in the district itself would increase the accessibility of the civil service coaching for aspirants in the district. Kollam is the Hub of Educational Institutions. The city of Kollam and its suburbs have plenty of educational institutions including professional colleges, Engineering Colleges, Medical Colleges, Management Institutes, Architectural Institutes, Arts and Science Colleges, Polytechnics Institutes, Fashion Institutes, Training Colleges and hundreds of schools. Hundreds of students do prepare for the Civil Services and hence the centre would be a boon for them. Finally, students from socially and economically backward communities do not have the resources to travel to other districts and pursue civil service preparation.

Kerala State Civil Service Academy Kollam Centre (KSCSA-KOLLAM) is a sub centre of Kerala State Civil Service Academy established under Centre for Continuing Education Kerala (CCEK) on 13th February 2019.  The Government of Kerala, Higher Education Department has accorded administrative sanction for establishing a sub centre of Kerala State Civil Service Academy at Kollam TKM College of Arts and Science. Kollam Centre is the first sub centre started in an aided college campus in Kerala. The Kollam Centre offers civil service aspirants a golden opportunity to realise their dream of appearing and qualifying the Civil Service Examination.
